Anguilla Yacht Charters

A 13-mile sail north of St Martin / St Marteen brings you to Anguilla, a 35 mi2 Caribbean island surrounded by unspoiled coral reefs and miles of spectacular white sand beaches. There are several much smaller islands and cays nearby with no permanent population. This includes Sandy Island – a popular offshore stop, and further north, some of the best snorkeling and diving can be enjoyed at Prickly Pear Cays.

Anguilla is a British overseas territory in the Caribbean. It is one of the most northerly of the Leeward Islands in the Lesser Antilles, lying east of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and directly north of St Martin. An Anguilla Yacht Charter Itinerary could include St Martin, St Barts, St Eustatius “Statia”, and St Kitts and Nevis.

Beautiful beaches, top-notch food, and warm hospitality. Anguilla may be tiny, but it’s a decidedly diverse destination – with high-end luxury accommodations side-by-side with rustic, laid-back beach bars. Here are some of our favorite things to do in Anguilla:

Beaches

Sandy Ground
Get ready to Party! People around the world dock their boats here to eat, drink, swim, and have a great time! There is a heck of a lot of boats and people crowding this fabulous Anguilla beach. Here you will find the Pumphouse Bar. Rum punches and reggae, and calypso bands are the draws here.

Shoal Bay East
This two-mile stretch of sand features many resort hotels, luxury villas, beach bars, and restaurants. It has been named the “world’s best beach” (not just the Caribbean’s) by many top tourist magazines and authorities. This is a great beach to walk and beach-comb. The sand is so powdery and stretches a mile, comes to a point with some fantastic reefs, and then goes another mile. The best restaurant on Shoal Bay has to be Madeariman, serving tasty French food (many rave over the escargots!) at fair prices.

Restaurants

Anguilla is well-known for its pearly white beaches, high-end bars, restaurants, and posh nightclubs. You can enjoy 5-star service and fare with your toes in the sand! Here are some of our favorites.

Azure Beach Bar, Rendezvous Bay, Anguillla
This small, picturesque resort beach bar gives a taste of the Mediterranean in the Caribbean – the owner built the property to resemble the Greek island of Mykonos. With a panoramic ocean view, the open outdoor bar is bathed in whitewashed décor and sparkly blue tiles. Fresh ingredients for the cocktails (basil, sage, cucumbers, and tomatoes) come from the resort’s hydroponic farm.

Dune Preserve Bar, Rendezvous Bay, Anguillla
Using pieces of shipwrecked racing boats and washed-up driftwood, owner Bankie Banx and his best friend, Bullett, built the Dune Preserve in 1994. Four hurricanes later, the landscape has changed, but the spirit of the bar is still going strong, and it’s been the site of live performances by Jimmy Buffett and Kevin Bacon. “It’s the only beach bar in the world where you are likely to run into a former president, a former pirate, and a former Wall Street bigwig all in the same day,” says the Dune’s business manager, Olaide Banx, noting that Bill Clinton has swung by twice.

Geraud’s Patisserie Bakery, South Hill Village, Anguilla
French expatriate Geraud Lavest oversees the kitchen where the café au lait is straight out of Paris, but the mango-topped French toast has a tropical spin at this quaint bakery. In October, you’ll find Lavest bottling house-made peach-ginger marmalade. The jars ($8) will also pack neatly in your suitcase.
