The Line was founded in 1991.  The line operates six small ships along the Eastern Seaboard and Western Seaboard as well as the Mississippi-Ohio and Columbia-Snake river systems of the United States.

The staterooms are the largest in the small cruise ship industry. These hotel-like rooms feature large opening picture windows, roomy baths, and some have private balconies. Single occupancy rooms are available on all the ships. Triple occupancy rooms are also available.

All departure ports are near major airports. Transportation between the airport and ship may be available for an additional charge. Parking is available at all departure locations at nearby commercial garages or lots at a reasonable weekly rate.
